I loved The Host and Memories of Murder but this movie was unwatchable.
I wanted to turn it off as soon as she started awkwardly dancing.
The mother was a terrible and annoying character, as was the son.
Very disappointed.
I bet you didn't even watch the whole movie, because if you did, you would understand what that scene meant.
shareI personally *loved* the dancing scene at the beginning. It really made me like the mother's character and I continued to root for her throughout the whole movie! I'll admit there were parts I found a bit off, for example the whole thing about the mother poisoning her son and the scene in the nighttime at her house when the son's friend breaks in or whatever, but overall it was a great movie that left an impression on me.
Infact I like this movie considerably more than The Host and Memories of Murder!

Ditto. I liked this film more than The Host and Memories of Murder (which is good but particuarly overrated in my opinion).
Mother was good for the first 1 hour 20 minutes, but the latter stages of the film made it excellent.
hmmm. Personally, that's what grabbed me. Completely unexpected, & I LOVE that element of surprise & creativity in film. Right away I was very interested BECAUSE she broke out into her little 'Deadhead-like' dance ;)
Not to mention it completely ties into the film...apparent only if you watch it all the way thru. It starts by giving us that little "Wth?! Ok, interesting!" to "Whoa." by the end, when it all makes sense.
Imo, she did a BEAUTIFUL job with the part.
Imo, it's not even in the vicinity of a "terrible movie".
"Hey, how come Andrew gets to get up? If he gets up...we'll all get up...IT'LL BE ANARCHY!!"
I thought that the movie was excellent. Normally I prefer much older mysteries, but this one was good.
Can't wait to see Memories of Murder!
