*SPOILER* PLOT DEVICE - JP convicted without proper evidence?

It's unclear.

1. The police does not know the motive.
2. He is not linked to the crime scene.
3. Zero witness, whatsoever.
4. His guilt can be easily proven false. Many people knew the girl bled from her nose, which substantiates his explanation for the ONLY evidence against him. He could also very easily prove he was going out with her, everyone seemed to know about that.

This looked like a convenient plot device to me. Otherwise a good movie. Dark though !

Did you watch the movie? That's the whole point. The police are lazy and just want to wrap it up as quickly as possible. That's why Yoon Do-joon is arrested and determined to be guilty so quickly without any further investigation.

And that explains why they would reopen a closed case just to settle it with sloppy police work. Genius !

Good thing this wasn't a cop film.

It would do to keep in mind that this is not a film that takes place in the U.S. Who is to say, other than Korean viewers, if the legal standards the original poster lists are the same in South Korea. And even if they are, those standards are not necessarily adhered to in the U.S. either.
