I just saw this excellent film but was confused about one scene:
When Mother goes to Granny to get the cell phone the English subtitle has Granny saying 'Ah-Jung sent you?'
Why would Granny say that when she knows Ah-jung is dead?
I took it to mean "from the grave" or something like that. Which could either be the alcohol talking, or a sincere belief/being haunted (probably haunted by some guilt too, her granddaughter having basically prostituted herself to support them both while she kept drinking).
Understanding is a three-edged sword.
Granny was not all-there mentally. Previously she had also made a reference to her granddaughter being alive, and continued to launder her clothes.
