Wow after over a decade, they decide to make a sequel?

Been about 12 years now.... The sequel has potential, but I'm baffled to why they decided to do a sequel now? The first one wasn't a huge success really.. Not too many people have even heard of it.

It was 20 years before the sequel to Alfred Hitchcocks Psycho was made.

Which had nothing to do with Hitchcock, and might as well be a made for TV sequel.
