on the plot bit it says "A group of humans arrive on Sirius 6-B to investigate an SOS signal sent out from the planet, which has been supposedly deserted since the destruction of the man-made weapons known as "screamers."
Oh, I see what you mean. Well, I wouldn't count on that summary to be accurate, but even if it is, we may find out in the movie that the Screamers were thought on Earth to have been wiped out after the end of the last film.
We don't know's doing the "supposing" or on what basis, but since the supposition is mistaken, there's no implication that the Screamers really were wiped out. For all we know, maybe the Screamers themselves put out that misinformation deliberately, to mislead people on Earth in the same way that they misled people on Sirius 6B in the first film.
(If that does turn out to be what happened, I guess we might have to assume Hendricksson was killed. Had he made it back, he'd surely have reported the true situation and the Alliance, at least, probably wouldn't have trusted any further messages from Sirius 6B that said the Screamers had been wiped out.)
