The Plot

I dont know how this movie can be good based on the trailer. I just finished watching Screamers 1. The plot of Screamers 2 already seems obvious. The Screamers are looking to expand elsewhere but don't have a spaceship (because theyre apparently too stupid to create one?). So they send a fake SOS, humans investigate, Screamers board onto recovery spaceship and that's the end of the movie. They'll probably do something ambiguous to make you wonder if the last person alive is in fact a screamer or not, which they will be. The end. stupid. Also, Peter Weller's character is dead (obvious from the trailer already right?) If Weller's character were alive he would have told the humans about the evolution etc of the Screamers, but in the trailer they say they don't really know what's going on.

Well, we don't know yet whether the SOS is real or fake. It's possible that there are isolated groups of human survivors on Sirius 6B that Hendricksson didn't know about. We'll see.

Even if the plot does turn out to be something obvious, if the movie is done right there will still be things to like and enjoy -- if, for example, it does a good job of capturing the atmosphere and mood of Sirius 6B (which it appears from the trailer that it probably does), or has a score anywhere near as well suited to it as Normand Corbeil's was to the first one.

Yes, I think we have to assume Hendricksson is probably dead unless some other explanation is given in the sequel. But it's also possible, for all we know, that he did make it back to Earth and the Alliance thinks it managed to decommission/deactivate all the Screamers afterward in some way. Again, we'll see.

Spoilers:

You just about summed up the movie droolworthiness, and it really was predictable. I never got a chance to see the first one but this sequal gives the viewer a good idea of what happened in the first one by explaining the backstory. The thing that threw me off is whoever the last person was to leave on the ship in the original ended up blowing up the ship on re-entry to Earth. I guess he found the bear on board. He also sent messages to Earth but it seems people blew it off as a shell shocked mad man. O.o

And yes, I would agree he would have mentioned something that the screamers can look like humans, but I guess he left that little detail out. It probably wouldn't have mattered though since even when the crew found out they can look human one of the women has sex and gets knocked up by one of the planets inhabitants. I'm usually pretty forgiving watching movies but the holes in this one seemed a bit much. Decent enough to kill 2 hours though I guess.
