I watched this film some months ago on YouTube and while it wasn't the best ever, I quite liked it. It had a lot of amusing elements I liked seeing.

I come here (I must have come here before but I don't remember details) and find that its rating is 1.9/10 and everyone seems to hate it. Really strange, it's as tho we've seen different films. (I've checked, it's the same one!)

Maybe I should watch it again and see what people think is so awful about it. And yet if it was that awful surely I couldn't have liked it so much the first time?

I've seen this film over 50 times and I love it!

Each time I watch it, I pick up on deep social and political commentary that went over my head previously.

For instance, this film opens in 10,001 BC. At first I thought it was a bad opening...until I realized that it's making fun of how bad movies like 10,000 BC often have even worse prequels/sequels/remakes. The parody goes even further when Amy Winehouse shows up...a reference to random celebrity cameos shoe-horned into most films nowadays. Brilliant! I don't expect everyone to get the joke of Amy Winehouse drinking gasoline, but it's quite deep. It's an anachronism, since gasoline didn't exist in that time, just like Amy Winehouse wouldn't have!

Kudos to Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg for making such a strong commentary about how stale Hollywood is and for trying something original. Don't even get me started on the political themes in this!
