Slapstick + gruesome deaths and genocide

... with a side of heart-eating.

What bizarre film.

I actually think I kind of ... enjoyed it. It looked beautiful and the tone was a total mess.

This could be the world's most expensive cult movie.

Death of a small group of warriors =/= genocide.

And a film can include comedy and horror during its running time.

reply

... and Tonto's original Indian tribe, and the fact that Tonto is a carnival exhibition = genocide.

Please, share more wisdom.

Yeah, let's disregard the deliberate massacres of Native Americans? and also that it's a 12 rated Disney film.

reply

Native Americans would have massacred us, if they were capable. We just had better weapons.

There's a deeper message behind the comedy. The film is brilliant -- too brilliant for most people I guess.
Pointing out that bad things have been done in the past, and making people think about them, is not a bad thing.

Weirdly unpleasant in its violence yet downright goofy with its humor. I loved the climax though, with the two runaway trains. I wanted the rest of the movie to have that same fun and energy. I think if it ran a half hour shorter, it'd been less of a chore to sit through.
