The far west pirates of the caribbean?

Am I the only one who thinks this movie is Pirates of the Caribbean in Far West style?

_Tonto reminds me a crazy Jack Sparrow
_ The Lone Ranger reminds me William Turner.
_ The desert is like the sea.
_ Red Harrington reminds me Tia Dalma.
_ Rebecca Reid reminds me Elizabeth Swann.
_ Butch Cavendish reminds me Barbossa / Davy Jones.

Sorry for comparing, but it has same spirit to me.

Toronto is nothing like JS. Just because it's the same actor doesn't mean he played them the same.

The overlap is in your head, not on the screen.

reply

I thought the same thing!
Tonto is totally Jack Sparrow, doing right the wrong way, all the time.
Sometimes doing wrong and then curses apply.
Impossible action throughout the whole movie, previsible fails, happy ending 150 min apart.
This isn't Lone Ranger, it's Tonto.
Boring. Johnny Depp also is boring, a one caracter actor.

reply

Escuse me? Have you seen any other Depp films than Pirates and Lone Ranger?

Cry Baby? Blow? Gilbert Grape? Fear and Loathing? Anything he did in the 80's or 90's?

reply

Johnny Depp always plays a pale-faced weirdo, even when he's playing a character who isn't a pale face.

reply

Well yeah that was the intention. They had the same director, same lead actor, same writers, even the same composer.

reply

The best Western of the millennium so far. Vastly underrated.
