Was Alright, Could’ve been MUCH better

It felt rushed. Probably because Stallone is so old.

What I hated most was the scene were he recklessly got himself surrounded by 200 criminals. That wasn’t very Rambo-like, a master of recon. That scene made no sense. They couldn’t easily just killed him there. He also exposed the girl by telling them that was who he was looking for. That made NO sense. The real Rambo wouldn’t be that stupid.

The last 20 mins were flat out awesome. The kill scenes were excellent. The rest of the film just fell flat. It needed to be 20 mins longer with more meat on the bone and more character build.

7 out of 10, solely because the ending was so good. Rest of the movie was rushed and rather senseless.

Rambo is a jungle fighter and evidently not too keen on big cities. He didn't intend to get surrounded, but he did. It happens. He knew his niece was just merchandise to the cartel so he figured they wouldn't unnecessarily damage her.

Besides, the hero being defeated -- caught & beat up -- before later triumphing is standard in these kinds of films; think "One-Eyed Jacks" and "Conan the Barbarian" (1982). The viewer has to know that the protagonist isn't invincible and that victory isn't guaranteed, otherwise there's no suspense. So scriptwriters throw-in a defeat.

I totally agree, Rambo getting surrounded was completely out of character, he is a master of stealth he'd never let that happen. They shouldn't have killed Gabrielle off either that made his entire mission pointless. And the final payoff wasn't even really that good. You know Rambo III may have been bad but there were at least a few moments that were awesome (like Kourov's death), I didn't get that here.

WELL SAID...AGREE.

Agreed. There is also no way in hell the cartel would've let Rambo live. Such lazy writing right there.
