RANK THE MUPPET MOVIES!
Theatrical films only (and stuff like "Follow That Bird" doesn't count)
I saw the most recent on on DVD tonight. From Best to Worse:
1) Muppets Take Manhattan
2) The Muppet Movie
3) Muppets From Space
4) The Great Muppet Caper
5) Muppet Christmas Carol
6) The Muppets
7) Muppet Treasure Island
Had a hard time choosing between Muppet Christmas Carol and The Muppets. Didn't care for them choosing to do yet another adaptation of a Christmas Carol, and the first post-Henson film cut down a lot of the Henson era characters, but what won me over was it's funnier and more touching than The Muppets, and since it was the first time they were making one without Henson, they tried extra hard to make the characters like Kermit, Beaker, Janice, Statler, etc., sound and act right. There was something "off" about the characters that weren't being performed by the original puppeteers in the 2011 movie. But I give The Muppets kudos for trying to revive the Henson era characters like Scooter and having the Muppets play themselves instead of doing a lame adaptation of another story.
So even though I enjoyed The Muppets 2011 and give the movie **1/2, I'd have to rank it pretty low on the list of all seven theatrical Muppet films.
