Rainbow Connection (1979) vs Rainbow Connection (2011)

I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this but I like the new 2011 version of Rainbow Connection in this movie then the original 1979 version in the The Muppet Movie. The 1979 version is good, but the 2011 version is much more beautiful and it has every Muppet singing it at the end. Also Kermit's voice is a little annoying in the original version. Now I must brace myself for all the hate I'm gonna get.

Agreed. I like this version better for the same reasons, but I disagree about Kermit's voice being annoying in the original.

Original was better. It was pure, simple, and heartfelt. The newer version was drastically cut, and it was also interrupted by the "Animal being tempted by drums" useless scene (did anyone really believe he would give up drums forever?), being reduced to background noise for at least thirty seconds. Plus the original used it as a beautiful epilogue at the end, incorporating all the major characters with a spectacular finale.

Disagree completely. The new version was nice, but it was overproduced, and, in the film at least, incomplete. The original was simple, imperfect, and sweet, which is exactly what the Muppet characters are. Yeah, Jim Henson wasn't a trained singer like Steve Whitmire, but I think his voice is haunting in a way that Whitmire's isn't.

I enjoy the original because, you know; frog on a log, dreaming the same dreams as me.

However, I have to say that the 2011 rendition makes me cry. It's such a beautiful moment. =)
