How many people featured in the movie started their careers/primarily are as stand-up comics? Just curious to know; this movie is going to come up o HBO India this week and i am really looking forward to it. Many people draw distinctions about what kind of comedy they like, but show me any kind of funny and I have a good laugh (provided it's actually good).

It's very common for people who do stand-up to transition into acting, since making people laugh and performing in front of an audience are both very difficult, and take a lot of the same skills that professional actors require. It's said that it's easier to make someone cry than to make someone laugh, which is why you see so many funny actors (like Adam Sandler) take more serious roles later in life.
