Don't know what the fuss is about

This is a beautiful movie

it's a drama with comedy elements

I gave it an 8

It's a good movie. Like a lot of other opinions on this board, the last act was completely unnecessary. It should've focused on the relationship between George and Ira.

I give it a 7 out of 10 - I'm a pretty generous rater.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!

i think the last act was great. Im not at all saying your wrong in your opinion...but heres mine,

The last act is great, even if it veers away from the rest of the film, but the only reason i can see people having an issue with it is strictly because it doesnt fit in with traditional film story telling fashion.

its just as funny, smart and interesting as the rest of the film, its a realistic film about people. this is much more of a character study than a film about a basic 3 act storyline. it focuses on peoples lives, and in life, there are many things going on at once, and this flick does that very well IMO.

Character studies can still follow the three-act structure. Taxi Driver does. Either way, I wouldn't have a problem with the third act so long as the first two were strictly about George. But it's really about the developing relationship between him and Ira - which I think is way more interesting than just following George. So, when they take the focus off that relationship and add another it comes way outta left field. You're right, everything in the film is interesting. That's why I love it. But, the focus is a little off. That's my opinion at least.

It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

I thought it was a good movie. I enjoyed both the comedy and drama.

It did seem like the first half and 2nd half were 2 different movies, but it's no biggee.

When does the film veer off in the last act? Are you guys referring to the parts where Ira and George visit his old GF's family?
