only a 6.8? are you serious?
Funny People is sure to not appeal to EVERYONE but I think the film deserves at least a 7.3 out of 10 on IMDb. It was pretty genuine of a comedy film.

shareI walked out of the theater 30 minutes into the movie. It was almost as bad as The Hangover. Doesn't deserve anything over a 3 IMO.
shareOnly dickwads walk out of movie theatres, you really think you deserve to be amused don't you? You go in with high expectations and complain if it doesn't reach them even though you didn't even see the movie, pathetic.
shareif you walked out you don't have an opinion. again: IF YOU WALK OUT OF A MOVIE YOU DO NOT HAVE AN OPINION.
I walked out of Benjamin Button (it was free), but i don't tell my friends, don't this movie i saw twenty minutes of it and it didn't do it for me.
Well with a title like it has and Adam Sandler in the cast, I guess people expected a laugh riot but this movie didn't quite fit the bill in that respect. Infact I was expecting the same but then I came to appreciate this movie for what it was gave it a 8/10.
I for one never walk out of a theater after 30 minutes and then come on IMDB to trash it. You gotta give movies a chance. A movie might not fit a particular genre by definition but it can still be good.
You don't often get to see Sandler in a serious role but it's a nice change and a refreshing change I might say. This movie had a lot of heart and a lot of depth running at nearly 2.5 hours and in the end it was well worth the ticket.
There were a little too many sexual jokes which I didn't find to my liking since almost all of them fell flat or didn't go well with the serious tone of the movie. That's the only complain I got about this movie.

Anybody who walked out on this movie 30 mins in is a toolbag. This movie was great. It's rare that dark comedies get pulled off just right and this is an example of one. Yeah, it wasn't your laugh-out-loud movie like Superbad but it had a much better story to it and a serious tone to it. This kind of reminds me of how people said they hated Stranger Than Fiction because it wasn't the Will Ferrel they're used to. Grow up, they're good actors and can play a variety of roles. They aren't all typecasts like Michael Cera. I thought the movie was hilarious anyway, but in a subtle way with only a few laugh-out-loud moments. Kind of how Futurama is subtle comedy a lot of the time while Family Guy is laugh-out-loud but you grow to appreciate both if you're even remotely mature. I gave it a 9, definitely one of my favourite comedies in the past 5 years.
shareWell I just don't have the same taste as you. I thought Superbad was terrible. Same goes with any other movie with Seth Rogen. I thought I'd see this because I like most of Adam Sandler's movies, but this one was totally different.
shareA lot of people were probably expecting a typical Sandler ensemble, didn't get it and voted accordingly.

Well said.

I don't care if you laughed 6 times in 26 minutes. Is it so difficult to understand that not everyone has the same taste in movies? Like I said, I'm not a fan of anything with Seth Rogen in it or anything that Judd Apatow is in involved in.
The type of humor in this movie just makes me cringe.
So why did you see it then if you don't like Rogen or Apatow? And you can't say *beep* about a movie you haven't even seen all of...I didn't like this at all the first time i saw it because I was expecting the typical kind of Adam Sandler movie but the second time I watched it I loved it i loved it for what it is which is along the lines of a dramtic/somewhat dark comedy. Sometimes you have to give movies a chance if you don't even sit through a whole movie before you judge it then your opinion really has no significance at all. you fail....
shareI thought I'd give it a chance because I enjoy most of Sandler's films. That's the only reason really...

I think 7.3 is a little low still. I loved this movie, so did most people I know that went to see it not expecting to see an out and out comedy. As a comedy it works well, if a bit long and still deserves a 7, but as a dramedy I think it deserves so much more.

This is a great comedy/drama movie. Imdb rating doesn't really mean much because so many people rate a movie without ever seeing it.
shareThis movie surprised me a lot, I remember hearing about it when it came out then I forgot all about it until I saw it last year I think on Cinemax or HBO, it's one of those moments when you're bored out of your mind and your randomly changing channels and walla! A movie is just starting. Read it was funny people and started watching it then I asked myself was this drama or a comedy? I was very impressed after seeing it, I love the performance of Adam Sandler and the more mature situation he is shown in unlike his other films. This movie is kind of tragic in a way and I think many people don't like it since they think they will be seeing a comedy and not a drama with comedy elements.
An 8/10 for me.
I was just about to make the same post.. Adam Sandler best film
