whats the deal with modern comedies these days?

Why are comedies these days almost always over 2 hours ? it seems like every comedy i have seen lately goes over the mark everytime - is it just to seem that people are getting more bang for their buck ? it just seems to ruin it and you are waiting for it to end alot of the time.

This wasn't really a comedy, more of a drama if you ask me. That said, I do agree that Judd Apatow's films do tend to outstay their welcome a bit.
