Did anyone else notice this was essentially the same story as The Great Gatsby? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I agree! I couldn't stop making comparisons as I watched it.

the trivia section for this movie lists that it was based on the great gatsby.

About halfway through, after Eric Bana comes home, I was like, "Holy crap! This is the Great Gatsby." I thought it was a good movie, although it was an... interesting choice to change the story to stand-up comedians who tell d*ck jokes.
