There was a scene on Family Guy where Peter holds Funny People DVD in his hands and then punches it saying "NO!"

I think a lot of people felt the same...expecting a stupid funnny movie but got a serious movie.

That was the joke, it was poking fun at people who thought that Funny People was going to be a lighthearted comedy, due to it's main actor and director. Turns out it was the complete opposite.
