What a dreadful movie

By far, the worst Adam Sandler flick yet and there have been some bad ones. To compound the disaster, this movie is 2 1/2 hours long and the main character is the most unsympathetic jerk you will ever run across. The only time we smiled was when they were watching Aussie football and Simmons says "where are all the black guys" and no that is not a rascist statement - it was just the only funny joke in the movie.

reply

What?
Adam Sandler is bad in all his movies!
He just ruined this one as well. Seth Rogen...Jonah Hill....naturally funny people, without trying. Sandler is just plain bad.
Apatow wasted his time here. Or wanted extra cash.
Yeah.
He wanted extra cash.

reply

Yah.If Paul Rudd would have played Sandlers role instead of Adam then this movie would have had a much better chance to be funny.I agree Sandler ruined this film.

reply

worst part was all the jokes in this movie were tragically UNFUNNY. And enough with the fat kid, man he's awful.

Yeah, trolls and this movie have a lot in common.

They both believe that they are funnier than they actually are and they are both boring in the long run.

They both believe they are somehow important and cutting edge, but are ultimately childish and irrelevant.

"What's truth got to do with it?"
"What's truth got to do with anything?"

I love when people talk about how horrible an actor is, saying they're horrible in everything they do...yet the person still watches every movie with this actor. Either the person secretly loves the actor, or only watches them so they can complain about the actor and movie. Either way, the person is extremely pathetic.

reply

These people are giving actors another chance by watching their new movies despite their old ones being so terrible.

Also, their opinion would only be "pathetic" if they criticized the movie without seeing it.

I appreciate their critical opinion: I've seen a few Adam Sandler movies and, thanks to the critical reviews here, know not to waste my time on this one. As your posting is not relevant to the movie, it is not useful.

hah maybe you don't like sandler but billy madison, happy gilmore even big daddy are classic comedies. the humor is juvenile but when pulled off its classic for the 90s generation. he didnt ruin this movie, unfortunately judd did. the writing, editing, pacing and overall directing destroyed this movie

listen to the receiving end of sirens.

reply

Um...have you seen Punch Drunk Love? Adam Sandler can act really well, he just too often chooses the money-route.

reply

I don't know about dreadful, but I didn't care for this movie and I don't know why it drew a lot of critical acclaim. While I guess the main character grows a bit by the end, I didn't see reasons for that growth on the screen.

Apatow just has a boner for comedians and made a self indulgent film. I thought Funny People was ok.

These are some movies of mine. Enjoy!

Seriously. What a terrible movie. It should have been retitled Patch Adams pt. 2. Plus it is 2 1/2 hours LONG. And what is with Apatow casting his entire family in movies - regardless of talent level? Pass.

reply

Considering how many genuinely funny people were in this film, I was surprised how absurdly unfunny it was.

reply

Massive dissapointment... Besides Bana I didnt find any of the others funny at all

reply

agreed, my friend and i were falling asleep to this movie

reply

Mann and Bana's scenes are what ruined it for me. Sandler and Rogen's characters should have never gone to Mann's house.

This movie was disappointing at the least. I do like Adam Sandler but he took on the stupid comedy persona of Rogen and his counterpart. The jokes were not funny and just vulgar. Believe me, I'm not a prude but I found little funny in talking about 80 year olds on viagra, etc. Maybe it's more of a guy thing... Bana's character was actually the best part of the movie.

reply

Adam Sandler wasn't really a comedy part...

reply

You think THIS was the worst Sandler flick? Are you retarded? Have you seen Zohan? Going Overboard? Chuck & Larry? Eight Crazy Nights?

This wasn't even meant to be a straight comedy, so good job not knowing what you're talking about,.
