where is jim's uncle ??? cold feet...

if jim's uncle is going to walk julie down the aisle 'cause he's been "really supportive" and "really great"... then why in f* is ryan called upon to talk jim down from cold feet?

where is jim's uncle?
where is jim's best man? or groomsmen?

"hi, i know i just met you last night, but i'm going to give you life advice - even though i don't believe in it."

Some possibilities -the older sister knew Ryan was some kind of motivational speaker and thought he could help. Of course he wasn't that kind but she didn't know. The uncle was farther away or busy and Ryan was closer and the older sister wanted to involve him.The uncle had tried but failed. The sister felt the uncle couldn't do itand thought Ryan could.

He wasn't there yet either, and big sister knew that big brother wanted to do something nice, so she called him.

Yeah, not that hard to accept and not a plot hole. Alex and Ryan arrived early so they could look around the school, and the motivational speaker in the family happened to be available.

Groomsmen, the Best Man, and the Uncle, are all from Jim's camp. The older sister of the bride wanted someone from the bride's camp to speak to the groom, who would talk to him with the bride's interests in mind - from the perspective of someone who is closer to bride, than they are to the groom. The older sister also felt that she was doing Ryan a solid, given that he had offered to walk the bride down the aisle, and had to be informed that the groom's uncle had already been selected because Ryan had barely been present in their lives. After Ryan is successful, his sister says, "Welcome home."
