I know plenty of people like Jackie who are not even addicts.

Deep down Jackie is a *beep* shady person. She puts on a fake persona at work and in public to make everyone think she is oh-so-great BUT...

that would not make a good TV show cuz lots of people do that, So they had to add the drug addiction. That way you don't feel so bad about hating her.

I know a woman who treats her family members like *beep* so often she has alienated all of them. But she somehow has her co-workers convinced that she is the victim and her kids are *beep* for not speaking to her. SEE...

that would not make a good TV show cuz we all already know lots of people like that.

I thought it was great that I had more patience. Turns out... I just don't give a sh!t

Wouldn't that make it easier to hate or dislike them? That's just who they are.It's not that they are misunderstood or addicted.

Feelings about Jackie are more complicated due to the addiction.She might be the same if she was never addicted but she was and don't know for sure.

It is my experience that addicts are who they are. The drugs are just an excuse. There are people who are otherwise decent who become addicted to drugs. And then you have sociopatthic personalities who are bad whether on drugs or not.
