End of season 1 (spoilers)

I just started watching this on Netflix, and I am very confused about the finale of season 1 and the start of season 2...

I thought that Jackie was attempting suicide at the end of season 1 by taking all the Morphine. However, the start of season 2 shows her taking a wonderful vacation with her family, and everything is fine at the hospital. In fact, Jackie is the one that leads the training on how to use the hospital's computer drug system. Did I miss something?

No, you didn't miss anything. I, along with probably every other viewer wondered about that too. There are a few other episodes like that along the way but well worth the journey.

I also wonder about the actor change for her child. I was like wait that is not the same girl!!

I believe that the other little girl was busy filming Dan in Real Life that year.
I think most of us wanted a direct answer to the season one ending.
Apparently she came to and no one was the wiser.

I think, unfortunately, that is the case with a functioning addict. It's all dramatic in the moment, but then things go back to normal.
She has glossed people over enough at this point that everyone will join in in her dysfunction. She has to push the limits pretty far later in the series before they wake up, because they didn't WANT to wake up.
