20 years but no one knew she had kids
How is it that Jsckie worked at All Saints for twenty years but no one knew had kids... Who are both under 30 years old?

shareLol! I'm on my phone. I meant they are both under 20
sharePerhaps the coworkers that would have known, no longer worked at All Saints by the time the show opened.
The first episode was Zoey's first day.Momo was a great work friend (he definitely wasn't there as long as she was), but once he was gone he was never heard from again.

But wouldn't whoever worked there see her while pregnant???

So I don't think she worked for All Saints the whole 20 years, she'd been a nurse for 20 and I thought at All Saints for 10.
shareThat would mean they would STILL have seen at least her second pregnancy

They didn't have 10 years at All Saints under their belts. Gloria and O'Hara knew because they'd been around that long and knew her but the rest were pretty new. She was there long before them.
shareLet me also add, people who don't have children don't spend time talking about them. Her co-workers didn't have kids, there was no reason to talk about them on her end. At that stage in life, her cohorts prefer to talk about themselves or their significant others. They don't make it hard to keep something like that private since she didn't live close by and her husband never visited her job.
shareIn one episode, she says it was ten years. Not sure what season, but it's not twenty.
I don't know a lot about my coworkers' private lives. Many don't know about mine. I've worked at my job for 10+ years. It's possible and probably more common than not.
She's gone back and forth between saying "10 years" and "20 years." It may have even been the writers trying to "retcon" that hole in the plot, pertaining to people who somehow managed to miss one or two big baby bumps, or Jackie occasionally having to stop and rest more often.

I think the argument has more to do with women, so it is not a shocker that you are not aware of a male coworker having children as they do not actually have the babies. If you work with a women for 20 years it would be hard to miss a pregnancy.
shareThe explanation is that it's a huge plot hole and you just have to let it go if you want to enjoy the show.
In the first season, Eddie says that he and Jackie have been seeing each other for one year. But then in the third or fourth season when he tells Kevin, he says it was four years.
When he is let go the first time, he says that he was there for ten years. If he had worked as closely with Jackie as we see throughout the series through all of those ten years, he would have known about her second pregnancy.
Jackie says many times that she's been at All Saints for 20 years. A lot of her co-workers would not have been around that entire time - it seems like most of the ER staff is relatively new. But still, many people would have known that she was married and had two kids. It would be difficult to hide that because there are people around who would have known.
It's just a massive plot hole and you have to ignore it.
The whole thing about the fact that no one knew she was even married was preposterous. I never quite understood that aspect of the show. It wasn't necessary and it was totally unrealistic.
shareIt seemed to me that no one had worked there as long as Jackie, minus Gloria. I think Gloria might have known. When Jackie was trying to find a physcologist for her daughter, Gloria did not seem surprised and even guessed it was for Jackie's daughter.
shareBut, shouldn't Eddy have known? When he was replaced by the pill machine, didn't he complain about is being at All Saints for 10 years and how that didn't even matter?
shareHe probably should have. Maybe he never paid attention?
shareThis is a fascinating thread. I never even thought about her pregnancy's and Eddie knowing/not knowing. If she and Eddie had been "together" for four years and Fiona doesn't look that much older at the start of the series, it does seem odd.
shareThere was an episode where Eddie found out about Jackie and he clearly states they were together for just one year.
shareOh that's right and didn't he give her a bracelet or something as an anniversary present which she didn't want to take and so Eddie gave it to Coop? I also remember when Eddie told Kevin about him and Jackie, that he'd been seeing her for 4 years, which must have been the 4th season.
shareYeah, for Eddie to be at All Saints for 10 years and Jackie to be thete for at least as long, I'm wondering if it's possible they worked on other floors years prior? For the show not to be guilty of a goof with this, that is.
shareThe only other option I can think of is Jackie hid the pregnancy and took no real maternity leave! Quite the stretch for her to be able to hide it without Eddie finding out someone on his floor was expecting a baby. So I still say they had to barely know each other years prior by working on other floors. Or it's a goof.
shareYeah, Eddie has stated that he was there A long time as well. My think is when and why she started lying about her life. O'Hara seems to also wasn't there that long. In the first season there was a well known and liked nurse who checked into all saints to die. She had only stopped working there the previous year and O'Hara was totally new to who she was.I was under the impression that O'Hara was their for years. She only we with Eddie for a year in the first season, but when Eddie reveals the affair to Kevin he states that it was a four year affair. Continuity error all over the place.
