ummm. whoever punched the girl with their left hand so many times would have marks on their left hand. scrapes, cuts etc... u cant punch somebody that many times and hurt them that bad without hurting ur own hand unless its wrapped up or wearing a glove. that would have bee major evidence to use against phillipe.
i also thought it was wierd that girl had no marks on her face by time they went to trial. they rushed it as soon as possible right? i was expecting some bruises still but she was perfectly fine. it would take like 2 months to fully heal but i dont think they took that long. movie makes it seem like it was only 2 weeks.

As long as you're being obsessive about details, please don't call a character by the actor's name. It's evidence against Roulet. Phillippe didn't commit any crime.
I agree with the comment that even a "speedy" trial takes months. Reggie Campo would have healed by then.
"I'd never ask you to trust me. It's the cry of a guilty soul."
The major plot hole I noticed was the entire trial was centered around someone left handed throwing punches with his left hand and bruising the right side of the girl's face...but near the end of the movie after Louis and Mick get into it in the men's room Louis clearly punches the wall in a little fit of rage with his RIGHT hand.
I don't get how the filmmakers could have made that mistake...kept waiting for the movie to make something of it and it never came.
It's a rather big deal in the book. Time must have compelled them to edit it out. Roulet attacked the woman using the same hand the previous client would have used.
"I'd never ask you to trust me. It's the cry of a guilty soul."
The reason the right side of her face is so bruised (as was the previous murdered girl) was because as they opened the door on the chain and looked through the gap, Louise kicked the door in hitting the girls on the right side of the girls face. The lawers just assumed they were from punches by a left handed person.
After the beating she got, she would have had scars, no matter how many months it took before the trial started. They kept showing her photo, she had a large cut on the forehead and massive bruises on the eye and cheek.
And what of the two homosexuals? Why aren't they called to testify? In Louis version, he suddenly awakes with those 2 guys restraining him. That makes no sense. If they're restraining him, he clearly wasn't unconscious, he was doing something. If he had been unconscious, they would have seen him. That was a major plot hole.
Also, why suddenly killing the detective? How did they know he just made a breakthrough discovery since it was merely related to a parking ticket?
I'm really sorry, but that movie was awful through and through. It was horribly directed, had the look of a TV court drama, a *beep* rap soundtrack, ridiculous developments, irrational behaviours (Martinez in prison: "I don't trust you anymore"; he got life, FFS! what would Haller gain from tricking him?) and all the leads were weak.
The only thing Lincoln Lawayer had was a few big fat twists. People love that. You give them the twists and they'll swallow any turd you present them, you won't even need to push it down their throat, they'll eat it like caviar.

It wasn't that bad, you are exaggerating. The injury was from the door hitting her in the face as it was kicked open. I've gotten much worse face injuries from road rash and it healed completely within a month or two.

I was wondering about them too, maybe it was edited out.

I though Roulet was letting himself in Heller's house and listening to his messages.

Still better than Avatar and Jurassic World.

Martinez didn't trust him. He thought he was trying to make a case, not get him out of prison. The last thing he wanted was to help Heller out after he basically refused to defend him in court and he wasn't buying the "I'm trying to make it right", line.
a *beep* rap soundtrack
There were a few hip-hop tracks, but I didn't hear any rap. One song that really caught my attention was "Moment of Truth"(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBadu4K-QkI) a fantastic jam and on my running mix for a long time. Expand your horizons.
In regard to the two homosexuals restraining/sitting on him; he was knocked unconcious in both his and her version of events, just at different places in the apartment. Granted in real life they would have taken the stand, but in regards to the movie, they would just be repeating what we already knew by that point in the plot. Yes this man was in the apartment, Yes this woman claimed she attacked him. Definitely left on the cutting room floor.

That was Louis lie, his side of the story, which was not true. that was the easiest to understand I think
