Why isn't anyone talking about this soundtrack?

I understand you all are to busy defending this movie or picking apart every little (or big) plot hole or the cinematography blah blah blah blah.....

Anyway I enjoyed the movie, no masterpiece but definitely worth the time. Furthermore, I think the soundtrack was excellent and certainly one of the best from 2011. It set the mood of the film from the get-go and didn't get in the way at the same time. The use of R&B and other tracks with an "old school" vibe fit well with the main character, and more importantly sounded like music that would have been played in that classic Lincoln when it was in its heyday. Although it is not an original score, many of the tracks are remixes done for the movie and shows that effort put in by the director to get it right. He may have missed the spot with the cinematography, but nailed the soundtrack.

Yea, I'm very shocked all the old school tracks from start to finish because they had alot of jams I like and never would expect to see in a McConaghy movie. Gang Starr, California Soul, and Music...very nice

I know! I just saw the film--was going to finish watching it later, but got all caught up in the plot,and was like, "Aw, hell naw, I GOT to finish watching this, because it's getting too good," and it proved to be very much worth my time---that's how you know a movie is good--when you really want to keep on seeing in through to the end. I'm not a McConnaghy fan, but he seriously nailed this part down----you couldn't help but be intrieged by how sleazy and charismatic his character was, and the s*** he managed to pull off/get away with. I was like, "Damn,this dude is doing some for real downlow gangsta s***,like nobody's business!" As lowlife as he was, he actually managed to rise to the occasion and got that situation corrected,especially after he found out about his client (who I suspected was guilty from the get-go).

The soundtrack was off the hook---I especially loved the fact that the film opened with an old Bobby Blue Bland song that I've always liked, as well as a bunch of other tunes and artists I'm already familiar with---I loved that too, and was wondering whether it's available on CD or not. Another thing---how come when this film came out, it wasn't given a whole lot of hype? I thought that was unusual given that McConaghy was in it, and it did get a fair amount of good critical reviews, but yet, it really wasn't promoted like it should have been,especially considering the great cast he had backing him up. Just though that was kind of strange, seeing as their were some big names in it.

I Remember and Nightcall are both awesome songs. I loved seeing them play during the club scenes.

Absolutely, soundtrack was a great contribution to the style, slickness and grittiness, which sets this movie apart from other in the same genre. Nice to see MM back on form.

i gotta agree. the soundtrack was pretty cool. not what i would expect from a mcconaughey movie but it still worked.

I just started watching the movie and I love the music too, but why is everyone surprised this kind of music is in a Matthew McConaughey movie?

to be honest, i haven't seen much of his movies. i just find him douchey with his public persona.

I am still confused. What does that have to do with the music in this movie? It's not like he even had anything to do with choosing the music.

sorry, i'm just all over the place. its just that i don't like him cause i equate him as a chick flick-y, or pretty boy action/drama kind of actor. then i see this interestingly good movie with a good mix of a soundtrack. it's mind-bottling.

I didn't like the music, but it really did fit the setting and story for the most part

I agree. I've been listening to Hip Hop since the early 90's and it's pretty much the only music I've ever consistently listened to, but it was too out of place here.

I agree, the soundtrack was fabulous - it really added to my enjoyment of the movie. Such cool music!

McConaughey's driver had great taste in hip hop. I wanna see them drive around and bust out the tunes more... we need another movie/a TV series!

This is just getting weird.

The soundtrack was definitely something that stuck with me throughout, which is extremely rare. I was like: I totally have to look up the list on Google Play. MFW, someone has already curated the tracks into a playlist.

There is clearly something about the soundtrack that sticks with the audience.

That's right. I'm a musician and music lover, its my passion. I love good music and soundtracks in movies etc... musical score.

Just so good music, classy and good feels. The opening song... AINT NO LOOOVE, IN THE HEART OF THE CITEEEH CITY! (or however it goes) It's so cool. Driving the Lincoln! I think some people dont appreciate these things or I dont know... I love details, luxury and good stuff.

Also hip hop later in the movie. Quality hippa to tha hoppa.
