Ammonius sainthood was revoked

There is a few historical facts that is not mentioned in the movie concerning the power of Cyril, the Bishop (other historic mistakes have I mentioned elsewhere).

1. Ammonius was true enough declared a saint and martyr by Cyril after his execution. BUT this came under protest by the Christian population of Alexandria where many believed the prefect was right to execute him for the stone throwing which had been close to killing the prefect. So in the end, Cyril had to withdraw both sainthood and martyrdom for Ammonius.

2. When Ammonius threw the stone, his guards fleet in fear of the mob. It was the people of Alexandria who intervened and freed the prefect from the mob, saved his life and captured Ammonius, not the guards.

These two facts shows that while Cyril was powerful, he was not undisputed and were limited, at least to an extent, by the local population.
