Some people are genuinely having a bit of a meltdown. So strange.
I instantly dismiss the opinions of people who use the following phrases and lines of thought when discussing this film;
- Woke
- Mary Sue (or other 'shes a woman how can she possibly do xyz' bullshit). It's just blatant misogyny.
- Make any disparaging remark regarding the ethnicity of the cast/characters (I've seen numerous people name drop Pocahontas and other notable non-White Women such as Mulan). We get it you don't like people who aren't White.
- Arguments against the language/accents. There is a Comanche dub, go watch it then if that's what you want. You know fine well why they're speaking English. For mainstream appeal as a lot of people don't like watching non-English content. It's a silly reason to trash the film.
In doing so the actual number of negative reviews diminishes, but not completely. Whenever I see someone hating on this film saying the CGI is bad or it's boring, etc, etc. It just often comes across as a bit too venomous in many cases like they're actually irritated by the film and hate it's guts. I suspect some of these people are actually like the above but instead of blatantly telling everyone they don't like it because it has a non-White Woman as the lead they try argue against it's technical aspects and story.
Don't get me wrong, not everyone will like the same thing and no doubt many people will watch this film and not care for it. But the anger some display towards it is readily apparent and belies their true reasonings.
