Why so much accent on Ashton's queer attitude? He's wearing metro-sexual wardrobe, he's acting queer, but an obsessive seducer of women (so typical for a Don Juan))-- it there a hidden message?
The thing is -- I just saw the trailer, I don't know to real story, and he just doesn't look str8. They made him look 'metro', someone might say 'queer'.
It obviously has something to do with the character, since they emphasized it in every trailer scene. Am I right on this one? His wardrobe, ways he shakes hands, all the little stuff... Furthermore, his name is Nikkie :-), a real masculine name :).
First off he's obviously young, mused by eddie halen (his reference in the trailer) and lives in LA. So of course he's going to dress 'metro-sexual'
plus I hate to brake it to you old geezers, but the 'jock' look is over-dated and ashton's character is seriously wearing what's considered 'in' especially for his age, style, and LA-NYC lifestyle. Sorry mates..read a GQ, or go to a real club now and again.
Edit* plus i think it's funny when a man dresses well and adds something like a scarf to his outfit, instantly he's "gay" or "queer"..where not a closed minded, prejudice fueled society at all, are we? LOL
you know xxzero, when a person doesn't agree with you doesn't make them "old geezers"!!! i don't care how many "real" (is that a euphanism for gay?)clubs you go to or how many issues of GQ (couldn't be gayer!) you read, most people will agree when a guy dresses that flashy, chances are he is gay. Regardless, that actor could have on blue jeans and a sweat shirt and still look gay. He in no way shape or form comes off as a stud.
yet, once again here we are judging a man not by his character, but the clothes he wears... it's LA my friend. Have you even travelled any where outside of your location? Cause that's not a 'gay' outfit that his character has on.... In fact, and yep you said it your self ("he could be in blue jeans...") clothes don't make the man...funny how even pastors can touch little boys...yet as a society we don't go slurring all priests and preaching "look at that gay outfit"...do we now?
See it's called an education...you should find one...
and if you had an educated opinion well then maybe I wouldn't have been so harsh, but I don't stand for racism or prejudice or sexual slurs...so maybe start over...think of something a little more 4th grade then your previous response...and oh yeah please don't fire back with the typical response of 'its a free country, i can have an opinion" yada yada yada....
because that still doesn't mean it's a smart one, or right, or fair one opinion... and unfortunately it is true when they say opinions are like *beep* got em.
wow xxzero, seems like we struck a nerve here! It never occured to me that saying someone is gay is an insult, simply their choice of lifestyle. YOU are the one going on and on about a word being a slur. You shouldn't be so ashamed of your lifestyle. Because in the long run, nobody really gives a good *beep*
i'm not so sure they were going for a "guys are gonna think he's gay" look for AK. i think they were looking for the female point of view on him, and what they find desirable. plus i don't think you can (look gay) unless you're on a float in key west. women find him to be the pretty metro guy. i get plenty of very attractive (and probably way too attractive for me) women hitting on me and i'm not pretty. i'm more of the scruffy manual-labor guy, but each guy is desirable in a different way, as i'm sure some of you are as the homophobic malcontents to those girls that are into that. just use what works for you, and don't try to be something you aren't.
I was trying to understand development of a character. He's all into chicks, but most of time spending he's with them alone, at "home", but so-so dressed-up, and it's put into viewer's eyes. Whenever you look at him, he's "club dressed", even when breaking-up.
However though, I got an answer when really watching a movie: he's a whore, he *beep* women for stuff (it's actually a line from a scene).
It's his uniform. Not his style.
As the film unfolds, his wardrobe becomes more classic, as he's more like what he really is. So, that's the end of the puzzle I started with this post. Great ending!
I'm a metro myself, but I don't dress like this or cross my legs or any of the sht he does. He takes it waaay too far, to the point where people actually view him as queer. With his clothing and the way he acts it definitely does give off this vibe.
But like any champion with a huge, swinging dick, Broski prevailed.
I think the word 'queer' is being misused. The word you're looking for is douche. A lot of dudes in metropolitan areas look this way--mostly male models and yuppies. To quote the Simpsons, "Handsom is when he looks at himself in the mirror...rugged is when you look at him." The character Ashton is playing is handsom. He's upsessed with his looks and he's in L.A.
In a pejorative way, yes he seems queer--in a literal way, no he seems far from gay, but he does seem like a vain dickhead.
The cuffed denims, belts and the suspenders looked punk/rockabilly-ish to me. I was wondering how he could be cool as a cucumber wearing a sweater by the pool but its warm enough that everyone else is in bathing suits and swimming
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.”
This women doesn't think he looks or acts gay in this movie. He looks and acts *beep* hot. I didn't think he had it in him. He is a goofball barely out of his teens in his other movies.
