What accent was Ashton Kutcher trying to do?

I just saw the trailer for this the other night (on the DVD for 'The Bunny and the Bull'), and although 'Spread' didn't look sufficiently interesting for me to rent it, I was curious as to what accent Ashton Kutcher was attempting to do.

I have no idea what it was supposed to be. I'm going to guess Swedish maybe...

Can anyone elighten me? I couldn't find the answer via google.

I wanna rock and roll all night and part of every day.

He wasn't doing any accent, just deepening his voice that's all.

I think he was trying to sound like Dracula. Not trying to be funny at all. I think that might reflect on how Dracula is considered this sexual being that uses his looks and sexuality to get what he wants, or to get the victim. He pretty much plays women in the movie to get the money and life style that he wants. He uses his looks and then "feeds" off them.

The voiceover killed me. Seriously, somebody should have told him to stop sounding so monotone.

Don't leave this girl alone with any handsome deaf mutes, Marty, that's my advice to you

That's the point. Nikki's so emotionless, he's so empty inside, it's almost not even worth his time to sound anything more than monotone.

I'm so *beep* done with vampires.

He sounded like Bill Clinton to me at the beginning, so I also assumed it was some sort of accent. Regardless he was going in and out of it, most of the time he sounded normal.

It sounded like he was trying to do a (bad) imitation of an East Coast accent, like Boston or Brooklyn!

yeh he was trying to sound deeper and more manly.
like when college boys talk with a deeper voice around their friends or girls.
and with girls, they change their voice also in social situations.

but here specifically, ashton was trying to sound more like a stud and less like the person he is in real l ife.

it didnt fit him well if you ask me.

I know! It was distractingly fake!

"cool"

I think he was trying to imitate Josh Hartnett.
