I was shocked to see the US Army lining up and executing simulants the way we've seen in gruesome ISIS videos in recent years.
I get it that the US military has been portrayed at times in films as "the bad guy" but given the current world situation and political climate, the scene in The Creator was wayyyy over the top.
I assume that Edwards chose this because the Americans does not see the Synths as living beings. ISIS sees non-Sunni Muslims (so also/especially Shia Muslims) also as not worth for living as they don't follow the way of the prophet. Also it hammers down to the last person that Americans are the bad guys.

I have to admit I noticed those huge tank-type things which were obviously there to destroy had a friendly 'us army' visibly written on the side of them
But this was right out of an Anime/Manga, there is no real world scenario were such a tank would make sense. Especially in this scenario, where they usually bomb the shit out of random places. Why this tanks are a stupid idea you see even in this movie, when they are taken down. This is a typical "I have a great visual idea, I want to push" which Edwards often pull, but failing on make it any sense.
