Actually Really Funny

This show really cracks me up, especially after living in Berkeley, CA. The first episode when they go into the Whole Foods-type store and Helen didn't bring her own bags...I nearly died. It's an exaggerated yet terribly honest depiction of your stereo-typical Eco-friendly family. Nothing sleighs me more.

I love it too. It's a warm hearted spoof of myself and others. We mean well--but sometimes the intentions don't come across perfect.

i agree! I hadn't been able to watch on tv so i watched it online, i'm really glad i did, because currently i'm not overly excited about the FOX animated shows. Simpsons is trying to be like Family Guy while Family Guy is slowly becoming not that funny anymore, and American Dad i never thought was that funny to begin with. I only really like King of the Hill, i guess that's why i love The Goode Family, it's got the same style just flipped on its head, haha.

Hopefully it stays on, i wish it was on FOX's Sunday line-up so it had a better chance of surviving.

I haven't been catching any Simpsons lately. That's awful to hear, especially since Matt Groening and Co. really resent Family Guy for numbing audiences with pulseless non sequitur gag reels. (Before someone flames me for being a humorless wang, yes, Family Guy can make me laugh, but it has no soul. It's as good as any show written by an evil robot with a typewriter.)

I haven't been able to laugh at the Goode Family's eco-antics. They seem like minor characters who've been given a whole pie to deal with, sort of like Cleveland except a bit better off since Mike Judge is behind it. I found myself relating more with King of the Hill's unassuming blue collar world more than the misguided conceits of this new mild-mannered green family.

Peggy is really awkward, but there's little cause for me to dislike her. The new Goode mother, as well-meaning as she is, is frustrating to me as an animated character. Definitely not someone I want to follow regularly on a series. Like the woman looking for the longest-lasting carton of milk in Clerks. Funny to see and mention once or twice? Certainly. Do I want to know about her life? Not really. I like Ubuntu. Their daughter is painfully generic to me. Mr. Goode himself is a green-tinted shadow of Hank. I prefer the original and his endearing aversion to footlongs.

I'm giving this show a shot regardless. It's Mike Judge's work, after all. I hope Seth McFarlane gets funny or gets out. Lone live Futurama and King of the Hill!

well, for me it's funny because i have several art professors that are so green and politically correct that it's ridiculously funny! So i always get a kick out of the show, esp. when it's something that i've witnessed from them.

Well, I think its personal opinions on the likability of any character honestly, the only characters I can stand on King of the Hill all the time are the Khans, John Red Corn, Nancy, Bobby, and Boomhower. As much as I love Peggy and Dale as characters, they drive me nuts, and Hank is the King of characters that annoy me.

I also will say that the Simpsons has been on an off year streak for the past 5 years, but I will say that the post movie seasons have been better than the seasons before it. I wouldn't say they are doing family guy humor though, but their humor has gotten more simple, which is probably what the reference was referring to. The Goode Family also does this with a few easy jokes to give it more mass appeal. Which I think is great, because 9/10 times smart or sarcastic shows don't make it.

Family Guy itself, I won't say is horrible, I just think its too formulaic at this point. I think they are out of ideas and probably should spend the summer really trying hard, and I imagine it would be difficult for Seth as he is doing 3 series. The humor style is different, and I guess it is more mainstream because nothing is really subtle, (I mean, seeing it once and you get all the jokes) but with each different humor style generates different opinions from different people.

My local Fox affiliate is shot re station signal. They did not plan ahead for the transition!!

So I hope it stays on ABC and survives. I love this style of humor. It is poking fun at myself and other liberals.

I am the type of liberal, like Gerald, who shops at both a discount store and an organic foods store.

So yesterday's episode was hillarious. It poked fun at so many assumptions on both sides of the cultural shopping divide. Some of my friends probally and actually would be traumatized by having to set foot in a Wal-Mart, if not actually to the extent of Helen--but I love them anyway.

unfortunately the show lacks one ingredient, forgotten while at the store. humor.

I greatly enjoy this show and DVR it every week, while it's no simpsons or King of the Hill it is very funny to me and I think it can grow into a very good show.

It's nice to expose liberal hypocrisy for a change on TV

This show is surprisingly funny actually. Avid family guy fans would have a hard time adjusting (mainly because it actually has character development).
