Watched it, fantastic

New masterpiece in zombie movies. Some of the fight scenes will be a must on Youtube for a long time: gangster (sorry, can't remember the name) vs 2 zombies at the same time in melee over all else. What's new in the genre is that zombies are not only fast & furious a la Night of the Living Dead remake and 40 days later, but they can be fought in melee: it makes up for much more interesting encounters than just running in anxiety, and gunning in panic when the *beep* hits the fan. Characters are adequately interesting, but some (the nigerians, the old legionnaire, the woman) have definitely more space reserved for them. Social commentary is present, as with the genre canon, with all social classes & professions dying appropriately in their role. Overally a movie about primal, ferocious battles with those who don't know they are dead yet (I'm talking to all of you) with less heavy handed commentary than Romero's usual.

What is this 40 days later you speak of?

I would like to go back in time and kill the idiot who created the term "reimagining."

I think he tried to say 28 days later

The movie is brilliant. I saw it at Fantasporto (portugal) and the directors were there. They were so nice and funny!
This is a very innovative movie. a gangster movie with zombies. Excuse-me if this is not cool enough. A movie about revenge (with zombies). Witty dialogue, some great actors, action a go-go + some scenes are visually perfect.
The directors have done a great job, when they spoke about the movie at the festival, they said that was kind of a challange for them, because everybody used to tell them that french people cannot make zombie movies. They definitely proved them wrong!

lol to the people who said the French can not make zombie films. The French rock with any kind of horror films! All you have to do is look at Inside and Martyrs.

Yeah, this movie deserved a better ending. But at least the scene of one against a zombie army makes this film a MUST WATCH for any zombie fan!

I would recommend it, but it's not a "masterpiece." A lazy script, bad pacing, and a terrible ending kept this film from greatness. But on the plus side, it had some intense fight scenes and some pretty sweet gore, and the director clearly knows how to build tension and suspense. However, in a zombie movie where the blood flows so copiously, I was really missing two scenes: a good gut-munching and some fingers being bitten off. I also thought the movie needed about 10 or 15 more minutes to fill it out. All in all, though, this was one of the better zombie rides I've taken in the past few years--and worlds better than the crap America makes. 6/10.

Far from fantastic, horrid ending, no atmosphere, and no sense of realism. The gore and entertainment value were good up until the awful finale.
