Had Potential

The first half hour was great, the robbers really f_cked up the cops in the beginning and made it feel like a total free-for-all. When the dead started coming back to life it was great too, for a moment I felt like I was watching French [Rec] due to the intensity. However once the cops and robbers started banding together it slowly but surely started going downhill. Jo Prestia was a definite highlight as well as the girl for showing off her psychotic side, but this whole mission didn't really seem like something the 'family' would bring their sister on which makes me believe the director just wanted a pair of tits holding guns. The other characters were pretty good, no one held the movie down... except for the token old man. This old bastard just talks and talks and talks and talks and the director expects you to give two sh_ts about his unnecessarily long backstory. The survivors running into a worldly survivor halfway through is such a tired cliche and really detracted from the intensity I think the director was trying to sustain. While the first half was intense and you really felt a sense of vulnerability for the cast, the second half felt like a fast paced video game. Either way it's better than the majority of zombie movies (which isn't saying much) and some scenes were well made, so in the end it was mediocre.

Oh yeah and what happened to the two watchmen at the entrance?

"the director just wanted a pair of tits holding guns."

Pretty likely as she runs around bra-less in the 2nd act. Couldn't they at least have cast a somewhat more attractive woman or are anorexic looking women with sunken cheeks all the rage over in France?

The old boy is one of the best characters in the entire movie. Every second the guys spend in his apartment is brilliant. It gives me butterflies in the stomach when watching that section of the movie. This is because they are just kicking back and relaxing inside the house. And right outside the door is a hell on legs waiting to get them.
