The whole point of the cops going in the building was to enact revenge on that gang for the killing of their fellow officers.
When they made it out alive, she fulfilled her vengeance.
I know, but the two had been through so much together. She should have forgiven him. Anyways after she kills him we hear some zombies howling so I guess she also dies soon.

I thought it was played up through the film that she was very self-serving and, you know, a b*tch. I kind of expected her to shoot him sooner or later.
The way it happens at the end, alerting the zombies to where she is, is I suppose a form of karma.
I like zombie movies with unhappy endings. \m/
