A Superb Movie

I loved the movie.

At first, I thought the movie would be mediocre but this movie will be remembered.

The uncertainty was marvelous. The movie could have ended in many possibilities all the way until the ending.

I loved the movie because it didn't end up with the "there is no invasion" answer. Because it would be a cliche. It would make me feel I wasted my time. This ending is a very good idea. It's fresh. Original. The build-up of the story and characters were all made sense with the ending.

Invasion being real made this movie a superb film. I would watch a sequel.

Some people complain about Howard's end.

Howard was a bad person ... a psychopath who survived because of being a psychopath and who was killed because of being a psychopath. His story is very real.

He made that shelter because he was a psychopath who is consumed with conspiracy theories and doomsday scenarios. Used that place for abducting and killing a little girl. He is incapable of saying "woman." Most probably he molested her before killing.

Howard wanted to keep Michelle as his "little girl" for "a year or two." But Emmett came in as an unwanted guest and Howard hated him for ruining his plans for him and his little girl. So Howard killed Emmett to "clear" the shelter and strengthen his authority. Also considering the killed little girl in photo, Howard -himself- deserved to die.

I agree, one of the best films I've seen this year along with The VVitch and The Neon Demon

I agree. I enjoyed the movie very much. The plot lines kept me suspicious of Howard the whole time and whether his revelations about chemical warfare were delusional or warranted. I think there were scenes thrown in to make the viewer even feel sorry for him. In the end, when Michelle escaped from the bunker and she's in the suit, looking up at the birds in the sky, I was reminded of The Village, when it is revealed that things were not what they seemed. Then the aliens come out of nowhere almost immediately and you don't have time to comprehend....it's almost too much! I didn't see the first Cloverfield because I don't like those shifty/jolty camera movies, but I still definitely enjoyed this movie. I was expecting Emmett to betray Michelle and come out as some sort of accomplice to Howard in his plot to abduct Michelle, and was surprised when Howard took him out.

What do you think? Did the ending come on too fast and too overpowering?
