Started out very strong, but then....

....seems to have fallen apart lately. I enjoyed everything up to and including the hospital-bed death of one of the killers. Since then, it's gotten cliched and boring. Buffalo Bill's killer family? BORRRRRRING, and horribly acted to boot. The new detective in the mix? BORRRRRRING. No longer interested. It went from being compulsory viewing to "meh".

This show has had lots of ups and downs thus far. I was hooked for about the first 6 episodes in fall 2020 (pretty much up to Lynch’s character going to the hospital). It hit kind of a lull in the winter with all the hospital episodes and the cops finding out Ronald is the killer (I thought they moved too fast to solving the mystery and could have kept his identity secret from the police for awhile). Then it kind of got an energized refresh with Ronald in disguise living with the girls and the new crime involving Buffalo Bill’s family, so I watched the rest of the first season. The 2nd season started out decent with the added star power of the guy from Prometheus and the daughter from The Sopranos and the return of Lynch in a new role, but there seems to be too much of a break between episodes and not enough excitement or intrigue happens to make me immediately want to catch up on the latest episode. I still try to watch the show because I still like the actors and setting and have hope it can get its footing and become a great series.
