The black detective shot John Carroll Lynch in the head and found the missing girls. How can the story really continue?

It'll turn into the girls and Legarski all playing cat and mouse with each other. Or he'll escape, and it'll flash forward a few months at least, and then at least one of the girls turns up dead or missing again. But yeah felt a little anti-climactic.
