A Serial Killer? More like a Pedophile

I think Freddy was a pedophile, seeing how Nancy was his "favorite", and how he raped her. How the movie would not show the pics that Nancy was looking at in the one scene, is another clue. I think he was a deranged pedophile, who found pleasure in hurting children. He was a a child killer in the old Nightmare on Elm Street, but not the new one. That's what I think anyway.

He is def a pedophile in this one. I like to think he only started murdering these kids after he was burned alive and brought back in their dreams. This Freddy was angrier than the original one.

I believe Freddy was always a child molester, it just wasn't explictly stated in the previous films (The "Never Sleep Again" documentary touches upon the subject). I also agree with michaeluk26 on the fact that this Freddy was angrier (while I think first Freddy was a casually demented sociopath). One thing about Fred Krueger: no matter what canon, or living in the real or supernatural world, the guy was a creep.

Ill probably catch crap for this, I love Robert Englands Freddy, it was right for the era, but damn Jackie Earl Haley blew me away with his Freddy, you cant really compare the two. One was obviously more campy than the other, but I think that was intentional. I want sequels with J.E.H. the pedophilia was subtle in the original but this one really owned it, an made Freddy exactly how I feel he should be. A Chomo burned to death with a heart so evil satan wouldn't even take'em. Like Beelezebub says "damn bro, seats taken, piss off to earth you creep me out".*satan shivers*

Totally agree. JEH knocked it out of the park as Freddy and really made the character his own. I too was so excited because there was supposed to be a trilogy with JEH as Freddy. Fell apart.

They changed him in this from a child killer to an accused pedophile. It's odd that a pedophile would be considered WORSE than a serial child killer, but regardless I actually think it works better.

First off, the parents could cover up the mysterious death of an alleged child molester, but everybody in the country would know if there was a mass child killer, and certainly everyone in that town would.

Second, it makes the vigilante parents more culpable. They'd be totally justified in killing a child murderer who got off on a technicality, but even if you believe pedophiles are deserving of death, a lot of people ACCUSED of being child molesters have later been found out to be totally innocent. The movie at least flirts with the possibility that Freddy was innocent before the truth is revealed.

Finally, it makes Freddy more CREEPY. He's kind of a weird folk hero in the original because, hey, who doesn't want to kill a bunch stupid teenagers? But making him a child molester in life makes him much creepier. And there's nothing wrong with that in a horror movie. I thought Freddy eventually got much too cartoonish in the original sequels.
