Why not a prequel instead of sequel

Why not making a prequel instead of making a sequel. Wouldn't someone like to know how Fred Kruger became that monster? I think, he known backstory has enough potential for a very scary, deep and entertaining movie about a man with a tormented childhood, maybe falsely accused of child murder, but chased and killed by the parents of the murdered children who believe he is guilty.

You should check out the "Krueger: Tales from Elm Street" prequel series. All four (so far) episodes are here on IMDb.

1) A Tale from Elm Street
2) Another Tale from Elm Street
3) A Walk Through Elm Street
4) The Slasher from Elm Street

They all star Roberto Lombardi as Freddy and he's amazing in them.
WB would be smart to do a prequel feature starring Mr. Lombardi.

Taking the "nightmare" out of a Nightmare on Elm Street would be a terrible idea IMO. Only diehard fans would want to see it and even then there is the nastly little fact that Freddy killed and molested children. I don't want to sit through a film like that. It would be tasteless no matter how they did it. We've gotten all the back story and preburn Freddy we needed in Freddy's dead and Freddy's nightmares.

Now I could be down with starting at his death when he first gets his powers and how he got them. Obviously don't count the fish sperm explanation in part 6. We could follow him on kills before the original film but that would not work with the established mythology. Either way, I say remake it but do an original story.
