I love this girl and think she's a great actress. But man, in this movie she was totally phoning it in. She looks absolutely miserable to be in the movie, like someone forced her to do it. She looks as if she gives zero *beep* about anything that's going on. So wooden, like she's about to fall asleep (no pun intended). And when she does happen to have some emotion, it just looks like she's pissed lol. Her comments about this movie after its release did not surprise me at all. Out of all of her movies, this is her worst performance by a mile.
She was awful in this role. Easily the worse actress to ever appear in the franchise. I actually enjoyed this remake, but wished they'd cast someone who could act or at least was enthusiastic about the role. The comments she made were probably just an excuse for her lack of acting abilities.
She can clearly act, as seen in her other movies. She's terrific and extremely talented. Her heart clearly just wasn't in it and she was totally coasting through it.
She isn't a fan of horror movies and I'm assuming that she did not want to do this movie at all, but back when they were making this movie, she was not a well known actress like she is today. She was brand new to mainstream Hollywood and her agents probably made her do this movie to get her name out there more.
Maybe, I haven't seen her in anything else and after such egotistical comments as: "Sometimes you don't want to get something, but you do a really good job and you get in anyway. That's kind of [what happened] with 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' - I didn't even really want it. And then I went in [to audition], and I was like, *beep* I definitely got that.' " I don't plan to ever.
I know what she said. Yeah, it makes her sound like a bitch, but I've seen her in other movies so I can forgive her. I really liked her in The Social Network and she was fantastic in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. And I'm excited to see her in Pan.
She's getting paid well to act and fans of the franchise deserved better from her, not very professional if she was sulking because she didn't like horror films.
... not very professional if she was sulking because she didn't like horror films.
Well she was on her way to becoming a big name actress by the time this was released. So then she tries to convince a cynical public that she really didn't know what she was getting into, bearing in mind it's a reboot of a famous horror franchise. LOL!🐭

Then why do this movie if you hate the genre and plot? She's just like Kimberly beck who played Trish in part 4 of Friday the 13. Hated horror but did it. Money hogs.
Yeah, the movie is terrible to begin with but her "acting" made it ten times worse than it already was. Seems she turned into a complete snob when he stock in Hollywood started to rise with Social Network and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Her attitude and performance in this film is laughable considering she should have known what kind of movie she was making. She comes off as elitist with her comments. What has she done of note besides the Social Network and TGWTDT? Nothing that I can recall that's for sure. It's a shame the casting agency didn't get someone who actually wanted to be in ANOES 2010.
I was completely taken aback when I watched the American remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and realised it was the same actress. Couldn't believe it.
I remember at the time I watched this film at the cinema, and was being so focused on the new actor playing Freddy I almost didn't consider anything else.
Later, I watched this film again on DVD and realised something. Heather Langenkamp is a well loved part of the ANOES film. Yes, Freddy is the villain and the focal point of the series. But without likeable leads, the film misses something. Being the final girl is an under appreciated art, and one we often take for granted.
Notice how Heather Langenkamp still attends conventions and ANOES documentaries. She obviously has no snobbery or embarrassment about her appearances in the genre. May explain why her performances as Nancy were so fondly remembered.
I've never seen any other Rooney Mara films but am happy to believe she was a better actress than she shows here. Sadly her comments imply she doesn't have a respect for the genre. So phoned in a performance that wasn't befitting of an iconic and much loved character, that of Nancy.
I am somewhat a fan of Rooney Mara. while her acting is intentionally BAD she still manages to have 2 or three good scenes. best case scenario i wanted after the remake was a sequel that has her come back. ROONCY WOULD BRUTALLY DIE
She is obviously talented and very, very pretty (and I don't care about her family background one way or another). Still, it is always a mistake for an actress to totally phone in a role, whatever they might think of the movie. This movie wasn't very good, but it wasn't a career-killer. Her lackluster performance really could have been. She was lucky she got cast in some better roles afterwards, but I'm sure it wasn't for THIS performance.
