I like the original very much, and I've never seen this version
In what way(s) is this new version failing? I see it has a 5 star rating. Is it really that bad? Should I skip it altogether?

shareI thought it was good like the original plus the remake had a spooky atmosphere and was darker u should watch it and decide for yourself if u liked it after watching it
shareI hated it because it's incredibly disloyal to the original. It's also very flat and dull. There's no creativity in the dream sequences, the kills, the effects or the script. It really is abysmal.
shareWhat I feel it really boils down to is that the remake was made by people that don't know how to make a horror movie. It builds no tension, relies on predictable jump scares and really brings nothing new to the table. It was a waste of time and money.
Who loves ya, baby?
I thought the micronaps were a new and interesting addition. Also, the movie had a real world feel to it unlike the original movies.
It's one of those days...
None absolutely none of The Nightmare on Elm Street films should be skipped but that's just my opinion.
As for the remake I don't think it's a bad movie granite their's better remakes out their like My Bloody Valentine,Last House on the Left, & Friday the 13th to name a few.
The Positive's Jackie Earle Haley does a impressive job following in the foot-step of Robert Englund mind you that was a really difficult job to take as we the fans have been accustomed to Robert's take for eight films so we the fans have it in our minds that Robert is the definitive Freddy so I apalud Jackie's risk.
The film deals with some neat expansion of the original's story I.E dealing with more of Freddy's Child Molesation subplot,Micronaps & The Mordern broody teenage edge on it.
While it's certainly my least favorite of the whole franchise as I just have more fun with the Englund 8 as they offer more and the remake was some bland aspects but it's still nothing to be scoffed at as it's still pretty damn good.
Overall I rank it a 7/10.
Guns are for pussies,Real men use fist.
I'm a huge fan of the original, it was my first scary movie and this is my experience with the remake :
- First minute : that guy commits suicide in front of that girl
"Oh, that different ! Cool, I'm in !"
- Next five minutes :
"FXXX THIS MOVIE !!!"
And I never watched the rest, I still can't find the courage to keep on watching.
I don't even remember what got me so angry, I just remember shutting it off and being very upset around the 5min mark.
I should watch it again just to know what made me tick, now I'm curious damn it
What's best in life ?

It depends where you sit. Someone who doesn't like the original or hasn't seen the series may like the movie but it borrows heavily from the original series, they remake too many scenes. Its a watchable ok film to me.
shareThe remake was made for the younger half of milliennials that don't like watching movies made before the year 2000.
The movie has no heart and just another forgettable remake that was made in the 2000's/2010's
