Joe R Lansdale

I think Joe is the greatest writer of our generation, maybe of the last 20 or 30 years, so much soul and space and taste and less is more, read The Stars Are Falling or any of his other great stories and you will know, he is the real deal

Less is more is a perfect description, specially with reference to the characters.

I'm surpised his Hap & Leonard series have never been picked up for a movie adaptation. Great characters and very cinematic.

One of my all time favourite authors. Great guy as well. Always chats with his fans on Facebook.

"Perhaps he's wondering why someone would SHOOT a man before throwing him out of a plane..."

Agreed. I have Cold In July on my book shelf. I haven't read it in years. I'm gonna read it again in anticipation of the movie. Nobody writes like Lansdale. Virtually everything he writes is riveting. As a novel, I felt like Cold In July lacked the wit and personality that I normally associate with his work. Great story, just seems to me that he has soooo many other stories that should be fast tracked to the big screen. I mean straight up masterpieces spanning a wide range of genres. Hap and Leonard series seems like a given. And the novel about the kid who grew up in a drive in. Awesome book, better than To Kill A Mockingbird. And tons more books just as good, but for different reasons.

I really loved the book...I should checkout some of his other books.

The Magic Wagon would make a fantastic film. As would A Fine Dark Line, Freezer Burn, Edge Of Dark Water and any of the Hap And Leonard series.
