Liked this movie a ton. My only complaint.

I've read lots of reviews and comments on here. And so I know the complaints that some have, but I only had one issue in an otherwise very well acted and filmed flick that was not predictable whatsoever.

Sam Shepard's character went from being a guy who stalked a family who killed his son (in self defense as far as he knows) to this upstanding man of character. It was just so jarring. The man that we come to know wouldn't at all done the things that he did in the beginning of the film.

Other than that, I loved it. I saw it for Michael C. Hall (I'm a big Dexter fan) and hope that he continues to do smart indie work like this.

I loved the film, but I had the same thought. I wish we'd been given some explanation for WHY Sam did that. Some sort of reason for him to think that the killing WASN'T self defense or whatever. Because by the end he seemed like a decent man who was just rough around the edges. The kind of guy who might have ended up in prison on something like drug charges but would NEVER hurt an innocent person.

It's an unpredictable film with a great script and acting. The direction is also noteworthy in a few instances. It's a very good southern gothic mystery thriller. I can't rate it any less than an 8.5/10. The film is an impressive hybrid of all the type of darkly comedic thrillers I enjoy.
