A bit messy, but a good movie

Great performance from the trio. Happy to see Dexter playing someone else than Michael C Hall (...), Shepard is great as ever, and Don Johnson steals the show.

The soundtrack is great. The general feeling of the movie would be a gritty Tarantino movie with influence of Carpenter. However, the story twists and turns make the movie complicated to follow. Looks like 2 movies in 1.

I agree. It's funny you mention Tarantino.

On the bonus section there's a Q& A and the director and writers take about how they purposely wanted tit ot have a 1980's old school, pre-Tarantino tone to it. No irony, characters taking the events seriously, and straightforward. They wanted it to feel like we've found this in an 1980's video store and that it was made during that time.
