LOVED this movie

I just saw it today and wasn't disappointed in anything about it. I haven't read the book, actually had never heard about it and really can't think that Newman would have pulled off the part of Katz as well as Nolte did. I thought Redford and he both had some beautifully delivered lines....loved that there were funny things and some very serious things that happened in this movie; adored Redford for his devotion to his wife and loved also the reason Katz carried the bottle of whiskey with him. Beautiful scenery throughout.

One of the best movies I've seen in a long time and I say, if you only see one movie this year; let this one be it!

I loved it also. I enjoy seeing buddy movies anyway, as fewer and fewer of them seem to be made as I get older. I thought the casting was fine, also. It would've been nice (in hindsight) to see a reunion film with Redford and Paul Newman, but Redford and the wonderfully grizzled Nick Nolte do just fine together, injecting humor and sensitivity through a great travelogue with much beautiful scenery.

I liked it as well; my daughter and I were cracking up during a lot of scenes. I really didn't know what to expect, but I/we really liked it a lot.
