Good movie! 3 ***!!
I went into this, expecting a somewhat boring movie with maybe one or two small laughs, but it was better than that! I probably laughed hard seven times, which is a lot for me when it comes to comedies or light comedies, and I found the plot and acting to be pretty good. Redford is good as always, but Nolte is even better, and despite his growly voice, he gets many moments to shine!
Some of the scenery was beautiful, and I really enjoyed the little fun moments throughout, such as the bears, the annoying but funny female hiker, the moments of Nolte and Redford getting bruised up of caught in precarious situations.
The dialogue was quite good at times, even though this is a light comedy. The actors made it work, especially Nolte!
Most of all, what was great to see, was that a movie about two men in their late seventies ended up being far funnier than most comedies today! Last year, I went to see Dumb and Dumber To, with two genuinely talented actors who can do great comedy, and I chuckled once, twice at most and only for a second or two, yet with this movie, I laughed far more often and more genuinely!
If I had any criticism, it would be that I didn't want it to end so soon, and wanted another ten minutes, but it's easy to find something to criticize with any movie.
This was a fun time!
