A Love Story????
In no way can this mess of a movie be called a love story. No chemistry between the actors or characters at all.

If I were Katie's parents I would have been pissed that they promoted it as such. Or rather they didn't promote it but I heard about it through different sources and thought I was getting some kind of Sid and Nancy-esque story (accidental killing), but no, no love story what so ever. Pretty idiotic and disrespectful to hype it as such.

It was a love story in the beginning as she seemed truly happy for a brief moment. I don't know how long the time was between the first of the movie and when the relationship deteriorated into the twisted abusive relationship but I believe she was in love with him at first. I don't know if the movie was promoted as a love story or if this was just how someone may have interpreted the promotion to be but I think it was an accurate portrayal of many abusive relationships--love in the beginning and then a pattern of abuse with interludes in between where they "make-up" and appear to be in a somewhat loving relationship again. What some people fail to realize is that women who are in abusive relationships DO still feel they are in love with the abuser in many cases. It may seem twisted to someone on the outside looking in but the people who are in these relationships feel such an intense bond at times it is difficult for them to break away. I believe this is what the movie summary meant by "love story".
