...bloody cloth in the barn that she found? I was confused by that scene. I thought it was going to imply that he killed others but I don't think that's the case. Who's blood was it?

The dog's. There was a scene earlier where Katie tied the bandanna around the dog's neck, and the dog wore it ever since.

It came right after he told her he had taken the dog to the kennel. She realized the truth when she saw the dog's bloody bandana.
