That question is like asking what kind of *beep* is the least repugnant. Still, I find that the first one stinks the least.
shareWhy are you even trauling (or should that be trolling) on a film series you seem to hate? Especially for the second instalment that was released nearly two years ago.
I don't think the series of films were as good as they could have been, especially the third part but they're still more enjoyable than all these young adult adaptations that have flooded cinemas in recent years. It is also the best fantasy film series other than Lord of the Rings and there are also very few other sword and sorcery type fantasy films that are even close to the quality of even this slightly disappointing trilogy. So to say they were all *beep* is a bit harsh.
Actually no they arent better than all these young adult adaptations.
THe hobbit actually came from a respectable, capable and proven author, who in the case of the Hobbit wrote a very interesting and fast paced book. People claim it was "for kids", but we all know childrens fairytails used to be alot creepier. It was not an adult novel grammatically like LOTR granted, but i found the themes and plots just as adult like. death, loss, danger, a struggle for survival, and epic adventure.
meanwhile the other young adult adaptations came form authors who werent nearly as good. you expect a subpar movie from a subpar book. you hardly expect a subpar film from an amazing book.
HAHAHAH what was the last sweord and sorcery movie made other than LOTR and the hobbit? Eragon in 2006???? that was literally one of the worst books ever made.. Game of thrones then? (granted its low fantasy) well GOT is head and shoulders above the hobbit garbage. go home clean up kid
If I had to classify The Lord of the Rings then I would call it 'high fantasy'. Sword-and-sorcery fiction hews closer to Conan, Solomon Kane, Elric of Melnibone or Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser. The Hobbit might be more in the mode of 'low fantaasy' but is more of a fairy tale than anything that I would call S&S.
