Above-average for a DTV action movie
Any aficionado of direct-to-video action films knows that they exist in their own realm and have to be judged as such. And against its peers, The 2nd stood out to me as an above-average offering.
I like Ryan and his presence alone helps this film. Casper is something of a legend in the DTV world in his own right and you have to respect his longevity. I also thought the supporting cast did well.
While the action scenes were nothing special, I thought the overall production values were pretty good. It has a good look to it.
The film also takes an explicitly pro-2nd Amendment stance--hence the title--which any gun lover should appreciate. For me it added an extra level of interest.
The audience score currently sits at 12% on RT. What were those people expecting? I grabbed the film out of Redbox for a dollar and I don't feel like my time or money was wasted.
